Round world tickets | Australia via Lima, Buenos Aires & Santiago
Travelling to Australia via Peru, Argentina, Brazil or Chile isn’t cheap – but round world tickets that don’t break the bank can be found through expert travel agents.
Flights to Australia via South America
One of the more unusual routes to Australia is to travel via South America. It’s an undoubtedly popular option – many travellers love the idea of spending a few months in South America before heading on to the likes of Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns – but cost can be an off-putting factor.
Round world tickets | Asia, Middle East & South America
It is pretty much impossible to find a deal going to Australia via Lima, Buenos Aires, Santiago or another South American city for as low a price as a flight going via Asia or the Middle East. This is mainly down to distance and competition. It’s further to go via South America, and there are more airlines connecting Australia with Europe via Asia than via South America.
Round world tickets | South America stopovers
But if you really want to include both South America and Australia in a round the world itinerary, then it’s worth talking it over with a specialist travel agent. For example, Roundtheworldflights.com sells tickets to Australia that allow stopovers in South America for from £1,029 plus taxes of between £310 and £650. The amount in taxes depends on the exact route taken.
Round world tickets via Peru, Argentina & Brazil
A sample route would be to fly from London to Lima in Peru, Buenos Aires in Argentina or Rio De Janeiro in Brazil. From there, you’d travel overland to Santiago in Chile before flying to Auckland in New Zealand. Australia’s the next stop, and after your jaunt around Oz, you can have stopovers in Bangkok and Hong Kong on the way home.
