Round the world flights are often the cheapest option for travellers planning to visit Australia but wanting to stop over somewhere else on the way. Pick the right route, airline and stopovers and the price can be surprisingly low.
Sydney via Los Angeles & Bangkok
A classic example is the deal that STA Travel is currently advertising. According to STA Travel, you can fly to Sydney via Los Angeles in the United States one way and Bangkok in Thailand on the way back for from just £799.
Qantas flight sale
This particular price involves flying from London Heathrow with Qantas between 16 April 2011 and 20 June 2011. To take advantage of the deal, you need to book by 17 September 2010.
Return or round the world?
It will probably be easy enough to find slightly cheaper straight returns to Sydney, but this is a superb deal for anyone who fancies spending time in Los Angeles (or indeed the rest of California) or Thailand as well as Australia.
