September can be a good time to fly out to Australia – the weather is getting warmer, and flight prices are coming down after the Australia to Europe peak season of July and August.
September 2010 flights to Australia
And, for flights in September 2010, there are already plenty of sub-£700 return deals on the market. Just to get a taste of the prices available, I did a search with Travel Supermarket for flights to Melbourne leaving on 04 September 2010 and returning on 25 September 2010. I built in three days of flexibility either side for both dates in order to catch any airlines not flying on those specific days, and here are the best results that came up…
Best Melbourne travel deals
£653.02 – Malaysia Airlines from London Heathrow to Melbourne with Holiday Genie (NB – similarly priced deals on the same route are also available with Travelpack, Southall Travel and Netflights.com).
£682.62 – China Eastern Airlines from London Heathrow to Melbourne with Holiday Genie
£700 – BMI from Glasgow to Melbourne with Netflights (NB – this involves a change of planes in London, and the London to Melbourne leg via Kuala Lumpur is operated under a codeshare agreement with Malaysia Airlines)
£744.10 – BMI from Manchester to Melbourne with Holiday Genie (operating in a similar way to the Glasgow flight).
Best UK to Australia flight options
Obviously, by far the best deals involve flying with Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur, but if you fancied visiting Taiwan instead, then the China Eastern flight from London to Melbourne may be an interesting option.
