Emirates flight sale from Glasgow to Australia via Dubai: April, May and June 2010
Emirates flights from Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Heathrow, Gatwick and Glasgow via Dubai to Australia still cheap in April and May 2010.
Emirates sale ending 31 October 2010?
On 13th October, I blogged about the Emirates sale on flights to Australia from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow. The sale was due to end on 31st October, but it appears as though Emirates
have kept their prices at near sale level even though the deal end date has passed.
Emirates flight deals via Dubai from the UK for from £569
In the original October sale, prices for flights to Australia between 20th April 2010 and 30th June 2010 started at £569 for flights to Perth. Melbourne flights via Dubai cost from £641, travel with Emirates to Sydney cost from £650 and the airline offered returns to Brisbane via the UAE for from £653.
Emirates flight prices: UK to Australia in April 2010
That sale is over, but Emirates still has surprisingly good deals on flights from the UK between those dates. I decided to look at flights that departed from the UK in late April 2010, returning in late May 2010 to see what prices were available.
I chose the random dates of 29th April 2010 for departure and 27th May 2010 for the return leg, then tested a few routes. These are the prices I found.
Emirates flight deals from UK to Australia
Glasgow to Perth via Dubai: £572.70
Newcastle to Brisbane via Dubai: £659.34
Manchester to Melbourne via Dubai: £643.20
London to Sydney via Dubai: £654.20
Birmingham to Sydney via Dubai: £654.10
What’s more, these prices were applicable to flights a few days either side, and are thus almost certainly applicable to most flights between 20th April 2010 and 30th June 2010.
Emirates October flight sale – it ain’t over.
As you can see, the official end of the flight sale seems to mean very little. Prices for a return flight from the UK to Australia via Dubai have increased by under £7 in every instance. It’s unclear how long the prices will stay this long for though, but those who missed the boat on the Emirates October sale have clearly got a second chance to take advantage.

Flying Emirates from Glasgow to Sydney is a VERY RISKY business. The window between “arriving” in Dubai and departing to Sydney is short, even if everything goes to plan ie arrive DXB 00:25 Depart for SYD 01:40.
Well for a start, de-icing each wing for 10 minutes each in Glasgow puts you back half an hour. OK a tail wind luckily got us back on time. and the flight was OK, as you would expect. Unfortunately, the Glasgow plane arrives at Gate ZZZ999 which is a thousand miles from the terminal and you have to be transported by these crappy buses to the gate which you should have arrived at.
The race is now on against the clock to try to check in to the Sydney flight before they boot you off…
but..it gets worse..all transit passengers have to go through a bloody security screening with queues for miles and no-one in any particular hurry to get you through ai 0115 in the morning…
So you take off through endless escelators to gate 229 which happens to be at the BLOODY OTHER END of the airport, with the clock ticking…god knows how any elderly or disabled person would ever make the connection and you’re sweating and panting and JUST MAKE the Sydney flight with 2 minutes to spare before they close you out.
EMIRATES…you should get your act together and allow more time between connections. OK you give value for money but we don’t need to panic before a 13 hour flight.
I don’t know if i will risk this again
