For those prepared to book quickly, Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific has got an excellent Australia flight sale on at the moment.
Cheap flight to Cairns, Tropical North Queensland
The fares, available via the Cathay Pacific website, start at £619 for a return flight to Perth from London Heathrow airport. This is a good deal, but the truly excellent bargain is the offer of £639 for a return to Cairns. Because not many airlines fly to Cairns, prices are usually a little higher than prices to other Australian destinations. Those wanting to head to Tropical North Queensland for a reef and rainforest experience are hardly likely to find a better deal.
Booking deadline and departure dates
The catch? Well flights need to be book by October 31st 2009, and the outbound flight must take place before December 3rd 2009.

Other destinations covered in the Cathay Pacific Australian flights sale are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Flights to all four cities cost £639.

The following sale fare terms and conditions are as stated on the Cathay Pacific website.
Sale period: until 31 October 2009.
Fares are for travel from London Heathrow.
Offer valid on all CX operated flights.
The above displayed fares are valid for outbound travel in selected dates only: 01October – 03 December 2009. For travel in other periods fares may differ.
Stay: 5 days minimum / 1 year maximum.
Dates Changes: Outbound- Not Permitted. Inbound – Permitted GBP50.
On changing the outbound travel date when permitted, if the itinerary results in a higher fare then difference applies along with the date change fee. If the itinerary results in a lower fare then the date change fee still applies and no refund will be made.
Name changes are not allowed.
Cancellations/Refunds: Non refundable. Cancellation fee £200. No-show: nil refund.
