If you are booking a holiday to Australia and are planning to visit various areas of the country as part of the trip, it can often work out cheaper to book international and internal flights separately. The best deals on an international return ticket may not be the best when you want to include domestic Australian flights.

Low cost airline flight sales in Australia

This is particular the case when Australia’s low cost airlines are offering highly attractive sale prices on domestic flights. And, at until 05 January 2010, Virgin Blue has some excellent travel deals on flights from Sydney to other Australian destinations.

Cheap Sydney flights with Virgin Blue

These include one way flights to Canberra for from AU$49, Cairns for AU$129 and Darwin for AU$199. Other destinations in the Virgin Blue January 2010 flight sale include Hamilton Island (AU$129), Queensland’s Gold Coast ($49), Rockhampton (AU$99) and Hobart in Tasmania ($85).

Internal New South Wales flight sale prices

Flights to other destinations in New South Wales are available for those who don’t fancy a long drive. Virgin Blue is offering one way flights to Ballina-Byron for from AU$59, Coffs Harbour for from AU$59, Albury for from £74 and Port Macquarie for from AU$79.

Virgin Blue seat sale prices – January 2010 to June 2010

The Virgin Blue flight sale prices are available on different dates between January and June 2010 according to the route. Some routes already have limited availability left on the fare sale seats, so you may need to be quick if you want to take advantage.

Note: £1 is roughly equal to AU$1.80 at time of writing.
